We have a fairly modest sized dining room, but it's a great space that's a combination of dedicated dining room and open concept.  We've made a number of changes over the years and really love eating all our meals as a family in this room.

When we moved in to our house,  this room was very blah.  We had oak flooring in this room and the hallway next to it, but our kitchen had linoleum.  Not to mention, our apartment furnishings and a less than desirable window treatment and light fixture.

We wanted to update it, and it was much more cost-effective to remove the hardwoods and lay laminate throughout the spaces.  It made them feel so much more connected and they have held up very well to dogs and kids over the years.

Our dining room set was a gift from my parents for our wedding.  The leather seats are easy to clean, and the simple shape of the table is versatile that we could switch out the chairs in the future if we wanted to.

Our curtains and curtain rod are both from Ikea, and the bamboo shade is from Home Depot.

The gallery wall is various frames from Target, and the rug was a Black Friday; it's the nuLOOM Moroccan Blythe Area Rug from Amazon.

And my favorite part of this room is the light fixture.  I found it at Home Depot and I. Love. It. So. Much. Unfortunately, it is centered in the room and looks off, so one of these days we'll probably move it over and center it over the table.

Our dining room is right off the living room, and I have dreams of adding some wood casing between these rooms to further define the rooms.
